It’s not all business. A number of social events were held throughout the year to facilitate the interaction and peer support that the group aims to provide. 

 

PSNI - Garda Trip

 

Spring 2010 saw the group head north for the second night out on the tiles in Belfast with members of the PSNI Gay Police Association. A number of Gardai ended up in the back of a PSNI Landrover and back in the local ‘nick’, however no charges were preferred!

 

A great night was had by all. The next day a tour of west belfast murals was provided by the people who police it every day. Catholic or protestant, policing and gay. A complex twist on a complex work environment. We appreciated the great welcome received.

 

An Garda Siochana are to return the favour and a PSNI trip to Dublin is planned for this Spring. We’ll probably just give them a tour of the Bravo!

 

Summer BBQ

August 2010 saw the Social Events manager outdo himself with the Summer BBQ in the Phoenix Park. A meat feast left everyone stuffed. The following games of football and rounders presented an opportunity to work off some of the extra calories. It was the only day for two weeks that it didn’t rain so someone was looking down kindly on us.

Christmas Party

 

Odessa provided the location for the 2010 Christmas party. Snow or no snow 25 of G-Forces finest braved it from counties all across Ireland for a fabulous meal, great company and some rather interesting Kris Kindle presents.

 

Brain Teasers

 

Supporting other LGB and LGBT groups is one of the important goals of G-Force and three fundraising table quizzes were attended by G-Force teams in 2010. With this regular practice we might actually win something one of these days!

 

Monthly meetings and get-togethers were held to organise the groups business and provide opportunities for people to get together socially.

 

Dogs Night Out @ Harolds Cross

The G-Force group enjoyed a wonderful night of fun at harolds cross recently - Bets were placed, dogs won & lost.

 

We were honoured to have LGBT PSNI & London M.E.T members in attendance on the night and they enjoyed a great night out clubbing after with the G-Force group.

A good night was had by all.
